The city sent out this week’s property tax assessment. The latest assessment shows all taxable real estate on Oahu increased one percent. City points to new developments and improvements to an existing property as an excuse to bump. Here’s a snapshot: assessment in this area rise: East Honolulu, North Shore, Honolulu and Oahu Urban Centre and Salt Lake. This environment is down: Leeward Oahu wind and Kaaawa to Kahaluu. If the Town Council kept the same tax rate, some homeowners will see a slight increase in the tax bill. Budget Chair Ann Kobayashi doesn t want to increase the level.
